Am Samstag 14. Februar am Valentinstag hat Metaversal Arts einen neuen Tanz publiziert: der Tango Pasion. Maar Auer hat wieder eine gute Arbeit gemacht, und hat das heisse und brennende Temperament vom südamerikanischen Tango in ihrer Animation eingefangt. Ja, obwohl Maar eine Finnin ist, ist der Tango keine finnische Variation, aber eigentlich tut es mir nicht Leid ;)

12. helmikuuta oli OK:n SL-tontilla varsinainen yleisörynnistys kun Ilmari piti Somedi-hankkeen SL-aiheisen luennon. Siinä jäi Studia Generalian Miina Äkkijyrkkä toiseksi kun Ilmari kertoi innokkaalle SL- ja RL-kuulijakunnalle mitä se SL oikein tarkoittaakaan! Tuttuahan asiaa se meille asukkaille oli, mutta aina sai jotain uusia näkökulmia ja vinkkejä. Ja oli mukava saada uutta kuulijakuntaa paikalle, jota SL:ssä oli noin 30 ja saman verran oli RL:ssäkin.

Jorgito Arado from Päijät-Häme Edu Island have organized meetings with Finnish SL entrepreneurs. It has been very interesting to hear about different cases. First I was with when he interviewed Yolanda Hirvi who is within the Metaversal Arts company. It's a small group which is making dancing animations and antique furnitures. They are quite popular, but the revenue is not so big.

Today Jorgito interviewed Kiana Writer who works for the MadPea company and Fab Outlander from the group Orange. There were lots of listeners (about 25 avatars), but unfortunately not all had made sure they could hear the voice chat, so the interview had to keep just with text chat. MadPea is a very successful company making all different kinds of games, and it has a large community with over 1000 members. It's success has been kind of surprise and now they are working on to combine SL success to RL business.

A business in SL is very laborious, but fun! Everybody emphasizes the social skills in SL.

Virtuaalimaailmat ovat nyt kovasti tapetilla. Hesarissa on ollut parikin juttua EduFinlandista ja IBM:stä. Johtuneeko tuosta, niin OK:n tontilla EduFinlandilla on käynyt tässä kuussa jo yli 200 avatarta! Melkoinen määrän nousu jälleen. Tulee jo paineita tehdä paikasta hieman hienompi ja informatiivisempi.

IBM:stä olenkin jo kuullut aikaisemmin, että heillä järjestetään juuri henkilöstökoulutusta paljon SL:ssä. IBM:llä on iso saaristo SL:ssä ja osa saarista on suljettu, varmaan juuri vain sisäistä käyttöä varten. Mutta myös kaikille avoimia paikkoja löytyy IBM Business Center:stä kokoustiloineen, informaatioineen, hiekkalaatikkoineen ja aktiviteetteineen.

Linden Lab and Resident Support Organizations organized a Education Support Faire last week, like Unti already reported. I visited the area just the faire was over, but the stands were still there, so I could move with my new segway easily :) There were many nice things, but especially I liked two places. I was very impressed with the project Skoolaborate (see the very good videos), where teenage students from Japan, USA and Australia had a project together in SL (or it must be in Teen SL?!). There were a lot of exchange in different cultures. I'm sure there will be more this kind of projects in the future.

The second stand I liked was the Earworms MBT in SL, a way to learn languages in SL, Ipod or PC. One could listen a tape of greetings in French, Japanese, Arabic, etc. Quite fascinating, but I would still want to see the text too. Two people (one in English and the other native with other language) were speaking phrases like "I would like to have a cup of tea." with a soft music in the backgroud. They repeated the phrases in a suggestive way, so if you're riding a bus or so, one could maybe easily learn some basics of a new language.
